Sequence prompts are becoming increasingly popular as a tool for text improvement and editing. These prompts provide users with a range of options to consider when making changes to a text, making the editing process faster and more efficient. Not only do sequence prompts simplify the editing process, but they also offer numerous benefits that make them an indispensable tool for writers, advice givers, and anyone looking to make modifications to a text.
One of the most significant benefits of using a sequence prompt is its versatility. Whether you’re looking to refine a piece of writing, generate ideas for a project, or offer advice for a difficult decision, a sequence prompt can help. Its ability to flag inconsistencies and areas in need of further explanation makes it an indispensable tool for writers, while its flexibility means it can be used to help solve problems and offer suggestions in a wide range of situations. Furthermore, the fact that sequence prompts can help structure a task, saving time and making it easier to identify what changes need to be made, makes them an invaluable resource for anyone looking to improve their texts.

Sequence Prompt Example
[INSTRUCTIONS] I have a {text} I would like to make changes to. Generate a table of 10 different suggestions of improvements that could be related to the {text} with numbers in the left column of the table for me to pick from. After the table, ask the question “What improvements would you like to make to the {text}? Pick one from the table above” below the table. Acknowledge with “Yes i understand” if you understand the task, don’t create a table yet.
You might think, what are those weird symbols you are using? Let me explain.
- [INSTRUCTIONS] = To clarify that this is an instruction set to use in the next prompt(s)
- {text} = This is like a variable that we can use in the next prompts to clarify what the text is to improve.
This might be a bit confusing, but it will become clear in a second. So let`s take the following prompt:
text = Creating more muscle mass can be done by doing the right exercises, taking enough rest, and eating the right food. Also, add a log of the change column. Execute the INSTRUCTIONS in a table format:
As you can see above, I used the text and instructions variable that we set, The AI will know what to do now based on the text I provided. Let`s take a look at the result:
Now GPTChat gave us some really good points for improvement. All we have to do now is enter the number on the left of the table where we want more information from. Point 5 seems interesting, let`s go with that:
As you can see GPTChat knows based on the number what the subject and improvement are. Now based on the selection we can give instructions on whatever we want. In this case, I want to improve my text and this point to the text. We can do this very simply by using the following prompt:
Prompt: implement improvement to the text, please
And this is how we can keep track of the changes made:
Prompt: include a summary of improvement number 5 in the log of changes column in the table:
And now you can easily keep track of the changes made, and what was applied. Now doing it one for-one is a bit tedious so let’s speed things up!
So now we took multiple points at once and made sure it flows nicely from point to point. And then we can check our changes again by asking for a summary of the improvements in the log of changes:
And that`s basically it! This is just a simple example, but GPTChat can do a lot more with sequence prompts! Just try it out and experiment for the right use cases!
